Chattem Chemicals, Inc. has successfully completed installation of a fifth, fully operational, multi-purpose manufacturing suite in its API Manufacturing Facility in Chattanooga, TN.  The suite, like all others in its class, meets cGMP standards and is in strict compliance with DEA requirements for Schedule I-V controlled substances.  The suite houses class 100,000 contamination-controlled rooms with HEPA-filtered air handling systems.  The new suite features a 2,000-gallon Stainless Steel reactor with oversized motor and gearbox for high shear mixing and a 1,000-gallon glass lined reactor.  Each vessel can operate over a wide range of temperatures, (-15 to 140⁰ C), and is able to process materials to various separation equipment before transferring to any one of the specialized dryer suites.  With the addition of this fifth suite, the annual production capacity of controlled substances will be increased by more than 35%.
